Former NHL winger Boris Katchouk has signed in the KHL with Traktor Chelyabinsk, according to a league announcement.

The 28-year-old left wing spent his 2025-26 season under the Tampa Bay Lightning organization, playing three games at the NHL level. He posted no points and went 7-for-19 (36.8%) on faceoffs as the Bolts deployed the natural winger down the middle. In the AHL, he spent time with three separate teams and scored 25 points in 46 games. He inks a one-year deal with the club, ending his professional time in North America.

He started in Syracuse. Katchouk scored four goals for 10 points for the Crunch in 21 games. Then, Tampa traded him to the Minnesota Wild in December of 2025, where, for Iowa, he played just eight games, scoring three points. Then, in March of 2026, the Wild traded him to the Flyers, where he played 17 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, scoring six goals for 12 points.

The Canadian finished his AHL career, scoring 169 points in 286 career games across seven years in the American. Last season, he set career highs with 21 goals and 49 points in 67 games, ranking second on his then team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in scoring.

Katchouk brings some NHL experience, too. Originally taken 44th overall by Tampa Bay in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft, he spent nearly six years in Tampa Bay before Chicago acquired him as part of the trade that sent Brandon Hagel to the Bolts in 2022. Katchouk has scored 36 points in 179 games across his NHL career, with the majority of that coming with the Blackhawks (2021-24), where he spent 117 of those 179 games. He also spent 2023-24 with the Ottawa Senators, when they claimed him off waivers.

The Vancouver-born player is known as a well-rounded forward, his 6-foot-2 frame and decent offensive instincts profile as a game that, despite a lack of consistent NHL appearances, he may see more of in the KHL based on his intangibles.
