A T-Mobile outage last week left many iPhone users across the US without service for several hours, and Redditors are now reporting that they’ve been able to obtain compensation ranging from $10 to $80 …

The outage appears to have been a sizable one, impacting almost have a million people.

T-Mobile is down across the United States, and many iPhone users are seeing “SOS” in their device’s status bar […] The outage appears to be widespread, with users across the United States reporting problems with their service. A thread on Reddit has amassed thousands of complaints from T-Mobile subscribers who say they are unable to place calls, send texts, and use cellular data on their devices.

It was around seven hours before the carrier said service had been fully restored for all customers.

T-Mobile apologised, but hasn’t proactively offered any compensation to those affected. Instead, customers are saying that they had to contact the company to ask for it, as CNET reports.

There’s a bright spot for customers affected by the downtime. If you contact T-Mobile through its Customer Care teams — the easiest way is probably through the T-Life app — you can request a bill credit that will be applied to your account. Amounts vary. Some customers reported $10 in credit, while others managed to get as much as $80 in credits that will span the next six months.

This approach does seem regrettably common these days: you are only compensated if you actively demand it. If you succeed in achieving a credit from T-Mobile, please share the details in the comments to assist others.
