You’ll learn how to help people connect what they care about to the ballot box. You’ll practice helping someone rediscover their own self-interest in voting, know how to vote, and trust that their vote will count.
And you’ll leave with a network of people in your community ready to do this work together.
The more people turn out to vote, the harder it is for a greedy few to undermine a safe and secure election. The better we understand what people need, the more we can turn out to the polls. But first, we need dedicated volunteers like you having conversations like these.
Tell Climate Week NYC: Dump Corporate Polluters as Sponsors
Our air should be safe to breathe. But that hasn’t been the reality for more than a third of the people in America this past week. Extreme wildfires fueled by the climate crisis are billowing smoke across the midwest and the East coast, putting people at risk.
Yet Climate Week NYC (one of the biggest climate events of the year, bringing movement and global leaders face-to-face) has allowed Edison Electric Institute to become a sponsor. This dirty energy industry group has lobbied against EPA pollution limits, tried to stop rooftop solar incentives and compensation for homeowners, funded front groups to block public power and community-owned renewable energy, and much more.
Tell Climate Week NYC: This should not be a space for polluters buying credibility. Dump EEI as a sponsor.
