According to an anonymous source, Michel Mizrahi, the innocent bystander shot and killed in the CDN-NDG shooting, was not shot by police after all. According to reports, his family has been informed.

La Presse reported on Wednesday that an anonymous source involved with the investigation in the June 22 shooting in which Mizrahi and SPVM constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane both lost their lives indicated that the bullets that killed Mizrahi could not have come from a police officer’s gun, as originally reported.

Witnesses of the shooting said that Mizrahi, 68, had been trying to help others to safety. It was originally believed that he died by a police officer’s bullets. Autopsy results showed that he had been shot several times. But according to La Presse, forensic analysis done by the Laboratoire de sciences judiciaires et de médecine légale shows, rather, that the bullets that killed Mizrahi were the same calibre used by the assailant, and not by police officers.

There had been photos and videos shared on social media that showed a SPVM policewoman aiming at Mizrahi outside the smoothie shop where the shootout between police and the assailant occurred. But officers did not, as it turns out, fire at Mizrahi.
