Sega is celebrating with a free Sonic Adventure 2 gift

Sega shadow-dropped Sonic Frontiers - Definitive Edition on the Switch 2 in June as part of the blue blur's ongoing 35th anniversary celebrations.

Now, in an update, it's confirmed Sonic Frontiers has officially surpassed five million sales since originally launching on Switch and other platforms in 2022. Its previous update was in November last year, when it revealed sales figures for the title were at 4.57 million units.

SEGA: "We've Found Our Flame - and it's you! Thank you for helping Sonic Frontiers surpass 5 MILLION copies sold!"

To celebrate this special milestone, the "iconic" Sonic Adventure 2 shoes are now available to all players:

These shoes were originally made available to players who signed up to the Sonic Frontiers newsletter on Sega's official website.

While Sonic's open-zone title wasn't in a great state on Switch, the Definitive Edition of Frontiers on Switch 2 comes with improved graphics and performance. However, the physical version is a Game-Key Card release and there's no upgrade path for Switch players who already own the game.
