Harvey Hernandez’s Newgard Group bought a development site in West Palm Beach, Fla., to build an upscale parking garage with a private members club component.

The Miami-based developer paid $10.5 million for a 2.6-acre parcel at 2500 North Florida Mango Road, just north of Palm Beach International Airport, property records show.

Called Palm Beach Auto Haus, the upcoming two-story development will be a private members club with space to park 20 cars and amenities that include padel courts, coworking lounges, a cafe and a gym. The project marks somewhat of a departure for a new-to-market developer in West Palm Beach, most of whom have launched luxury condo developments near the city’s waterfront.

“For years I searched for a place that reflected the way passionate automobile enthusiasts truly enjoy their collections,” Hernandez, founder and CEO of Newgard Group, said in a statement. “We envisioned something far beyond traditional car storage — a destination centered around ownership, design, community and unforgettable experiences.”

Newgard Group nabbed a $6.3 million acquisition loan from Belmont Bank & Trust. The seller, a Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based entity tied to Jonathan and Justin Bergman, had purchased the asset, which holds a 29,790-square-foot commercial building, for $3.5 million in 2021.

The Bergmans could not be reached for comment.

In Miami’s Brickell district, Newgard Group is building a waterfront, luxury condo complex alongside Two Roads Development, after securing a $513 million debt package last year. Earlier this month, it sold off a piece of land for $50 million to another development team.
