What has been a fairly peaceful and quiet January transfer window appears to have ended with a bang and this is an issue which could drag on.
Lyon's full statement reads: 'Olympique Lyonnais were delighted to welcome Saïd Benrahma to Lyon on Thursday to finalise his transfer from West Ham. The two clubs had signed a temporary transfer agreement, and Olympique Lyonnais had obtained approval from the DNCG to allow the transfer to proceed smoothly and transparently.
'However, at the beginning of the evening, while Olympique Lyonnais had entered all the administrative data on FIFA's dedicated platform (FIFA TMS), West Ham had never launched any technical procedure on its part, despite repeated reminders from OL and continuous mutual telephone communication.
'In the absence of this reciprocal action on the part of the English club and following this incomprehensible behaviour, which raises questions, the international transfer certificate could not be requested before the closing time.
'Olympique Lyonnais deeply regrets this situation and this decision, demonstrating a profound lack of respect on the part of West Ham towards the institution and the player.
'The club reserves the right to take all appropriate steps necessary to validate the transaction at a later date, and to hold West Ham accountable if necessary.'

In a statement the Hammers have confirmed that the deal with Lyon for Behrahma fell through but have not given the reason as to how it happened.
Their statement reads;
West Ham United can confirm that the Deadline Day deal for Saïd Benrahma to join Olympique Lyonnais was not concluded ahead of the deadline, with a deal unable to be completed before 11pm
We're waiting for Fulham to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja and West Ham's Pablo Fornals to join Real Betis now.
Mail Sport understands the Broja deal has been done and we are just waiting on the announcement for that one.
While LaLiga has noted Fornals' transfer to Real Betis on their website and that too should also go through.
