The 31-year-old Brazilian temporarily joined QSL club Al-Duhail in September, and scored on his debut in a 2-1 away victory over Al-Markhiya, but has only gone onto score another goal in a total of six appearances across a timespan of four months.

He's now set to return to the Midlands this month, but Emery and club executives at Villa are apparently looking for another way to ship out the player in the form of a loan or a transfer.

The 35-year-old made just one appearance for the team and was an unused substitute in another five games after joining as a free agent from Galatasaray in September.

Mata, however, secured a league winner medal as Vissel Kobe won their maiden J1 League title in 2023 - the Japanese season runs from February to December.

Jadon Sancho is reportedly 'set to travel to Germany in the next 48 hours' as Man United 'are finalising the details' for the winger to complete his loan move to Borussia Dortmund following his exile from Man United.

According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old 'will undergo a medical and sign for Dortmund within the next 48 hours' with United having 'reached a loan agreement' with the Bundesliga club that is being valued at 'a minimum of £3.5million.'

They add that Edin Terzic's side will contribute to his salary and United 'could receive potential bonus payments based on his performance.'

Sancho interestingly also liked a post on X (formerly Twitter) from Fabrizio Romano in which the football journalist stated that the winger would be returning to his former club.

Brighton will complete the £7.8million signing of Boca Juniors left-back Valentin Barco once he undergoes a medical in Argentina.
