Gareth Southgate insists Harry Kane won't be distracted by transfer speculation at this summer's Euros, stating he won't make a move until after the tournament.
Gareth Southgate insists England captain Harry Kane will not be distracted by the surrounding transfer speculation at this summer's European Championships, claiming any move will be unlikely to take place until after the tournament.
Kane has told Tottenham of his desire to leave the club this summer, and it's understood he wants his future resolved quickly, ideally before the start of Euro 2020.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all reportedly interested in the 27-year-old, but with three years remaining on is contract - and with notoriously tough negotiator Daniel Levy involved - a quick resolution seems unlikely.
The England squad is set to meet on May 29 in Middlesbrough ahead of their pre-tournament friendlies against Austria and Albania on June 2 and June 6.
And with the tournament officially getting underway on June 11, Southgate believes it will not be until its completion on July 11 that any transfer will take place.

Speaking after the announcement of England's preliminary 33-man squad, Southgate said: 'I don't need to talk about Harry Kane regarding focus or professionalism.
'He has got one goal with us and that's to win a European Championship.
'I know how important that is for him at this moment in time. What's going on at his club is a matter for him and Tottenham.
'He has made some statements in the last few days, so in many respects that is out of the way now and - I'm talking across the board now - I think it is very unlikely transfer deals will be done while we are away.'
Southgate says the timing of the tournament has made any potential transfers less likely, though admitting they cannot stop any deals form happening.
'It's different when we have our camps in September,' he added. 'Very often we have that deadline moment, and every now and then we've had to facilitate a medical or a meeting between a player and a manager.
'We are not going to stop phone ringing and cannot control conversations going on in private.
'But I think most deals are done at the end of tournaments or in the first week after the end of the season, I would expect any deals to be done after the tournament.'

It's currently Manchester City who are the bookies' favourites to sign Kane this summer, who has been open about his desire to win trophies 'year in, year out', also naming Kevin De Bruyne as a 'dream' midfielder to play alongside.
That was said during an insightful interview with Gary Neville for an episode of The Overlap podcast earlier this week, where the England captain confirmed he will hold talks with Levy this summer.
Asked whether his career was at a crossroads, Kane said: 'I think so. I think it's definitely a conversation to be had with the club.
He added: 'I'm sure that [Daniel Levy] will want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it's going to be down to me and how I feel and what's going to be the best for me and my career this moment in time.'
Despite Southgate's assertion that no transfers will likely take place during the tournament, Kane will be playing alongside a plethora of United, City and Chelsea members, while he is the only representative from Tottenham to make the cut.
His club team-mates Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Harry Winks were all overlooked by Southgate, even with the announcement of his extended 33-man squad.
