Tambua Sands Beach Resort has introduced a sustainability initiative that repurposes stained linen, no longer suitable for guest room use, into reusable tie-dye shopping bags. Rather than being discarded, the linen is sewn by resort staff into practical items with a second useful life.

Guests are invited to take part by choosing their preferred tie-dye colours and creating a personalised design. Each guest leaves with a reusable bag as a keepsake, alongside a tangible connection to the resort’s environmental efforts.
Angela Bob, Resort Manager at Tambua Sands Beach Resort, said the initiative was intended to make sustainability accessible and engaging for guests. She noted that repurposing stained linen into something useful reduces waste while encouraging reuse, and that guest participation, however small, contributes to a broader environmental effort.

The initiative reflects the resort’s ongoing commitment to practical, guest-inclusive approaches to sustainability. Tambua Sands continues to explore ways in which staff, guests and the wider community can contribute to protecting Fiji’s natural environment for future generations.
