A former American missionary who was detained in North Korea for over two years is preparing to launch a new radio station targeting the DPRK people, framing it as a response to U.S. funding cuts for cross-border broadcasting.
In an interview with NK News, Kenneth Bae discussed the project’s goal of reaching North Koreans both in and out of the country, as well as why he doesn’t think the South Korean military’s suspension of broadcasts has produced tangible results for inter-Korean ties.
He also recounted the circumstances of his 2012 arrest during a tour of North Korea’s border city
