Today, Apple is rolling out Apple Watch hypertension alerts to users in select countries across Asia, Oceania, South America, and the Middle East. Here are the details.

Hypertension notifications now available in 170 regions

When Apple announced the Hypertension Notification feature as part of watchOS 26 last year, the company said it “expected to notify over 1 million people with undiagnosed hypertension within the first year”.

Here’s Apple on how the feature works:

Hypertension notifications on Apple Watch use data from the optical heart sensor to analyze how a user’s blood vessels respond to the beats of the heart. The algorithm works passively in the background reviewing data over 30-day periods, and will notify users if it detects consistent signs of hypertension. These notifications provide users with impactful insights into their health as it relates to this widespread condition simply by wearing their Apple Watch, so they can begin making potentially lifesaving behavioral changes or start treatment to reduce their risk of serious, long-term health events.

At the time, the feature was still pending FDA clearance, as well as regulatory approval in other regions.

And while Apple said at the time it expected to roll out hypertension notifications to more than 150 countries and regions right out of the gate, the company has also continued to work on expanding its availability.

Just last December, Apple rolled out the feature to users in the United Arab Emirates. Today, as spotted by MacRumors, seven additional countries are getting it as well, including:

  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Indonesia
  • Malaysia
  • South Korea
  • Turkey

With today’s additions, the future is now available to Apple Watch users in 170 countries and regions.
