Marius Gavrilescu, a 3rd year undergraduate student in Computer Science, has won a WCIT Outstanding Information Technology Student Prize 2018.

The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT) is the 100th Livery Company of the City of London; it advises charities on IT issues, provides mentoring for IT professionals, and supports schools.  The WCIT prizes encourage students to pursue careers in IT and aim to foster an entrepreneurial and charitable ethos. Award criteria are  academic excellence, overcoming adversity, entrepreneurial skills, and contribution to charity and community.

To receive his award, Marius attended, with his tutor at St John's College, Stefan Kiefer, the 99th business meeting of the WCIT in the splendid Armourers' Hall in London. Marius and four students from other universities were presented with their award certificates and cheques by the City Of London Alderman, Mr Vincent Keaveny, and the Master Educator, Mrs Susan Fey OBE.

The lunch also provided networking opportunities with high-ranking IT professionals from all around the UK.
