Department Professor, Sir Nigel Shadbolt, has published an independent review of Computer Sciences degree accreditation and graduate employability.

Commissioned by the government, Sir Nigel was supported by the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) in carrying out the Review. The purpose of the review is to highlight the nature of graduate employment outcomes across various types of provision, evaluate the purpose and role of accreditation, and identify the skills requirements of employers. The recommendations aim to improve the employability of Computer Sciences graduates.

The review has lead Sir Nigel to make some important observations about UK Computer Sciences graduates, but while he recognises 'a worrying disconnect between the supply and demand for computer science skills that seriously threatens this legacy and could undermine the UK’s ambition to be the world’s leading digital economy’, the positive outcome in employment and salary range for Oxford Computer Science graduates bucks the national trend.
