For the second year running the department has welcomed local school children taking part in the Oxfordshire Business Education Alliance (OBEA) challenge. The aim of the OBEA is to enable Oxfordshire school pupils to work with members of the business community and other local organisations, building their awareness of the world of work, how organisations are run, and the challenges they face.
The Department of Computer Science takes part in the ‘Problem Solving in the Workplace’ element of the challenge. This year participating schools were asked to think about the question, ‘Why are there fewer women in Computer Science than men?’ Students visited the department then gave group presentations on their own response to this familiar problem.
The schools taking part this year are Gosford Hill School, Lord Williams’s School, The Marlborough School, and Wheatley Park School.
