At the recent ISWC conference (International Semantic Web Conference ) the Department’s Ian Horrocks and his co-author Peter Patel-Schneider received the SWSA (Semantic Web Science Association) 10-year award for their 2003 paper on OWL entailment.  

The SWSA Ten-Year Award recognizes the highest impact papers from the ISWC proceedings ten years prior (i.e., in 2011 we honor a paper from 2001). The decision is based primarily, but not exclusively, on the number of citations to the papers from the proceedings in the intervening decade.

There authors will together receive $1000. Each author also gets a certificate.
