A recent report by the Monegasque Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (IMSEE) shows that the Principality’s Hotel and Food industry is thriving and growing. The accommodation and food sector made €1.14 billion in revenue in 2025, +6.3% compared to 2024 and +81.7% in the past 10 years. This is in a context where the Principality’s total revenue was down by 7.6% in 2025.

Numbers at a glance

Hotels and accommodation had the largest growth with €812m (+7.3%), while Food and beverage services were up by €328m (+3.9%) in 2025. Meanwhile, restaurants and mobile food services  were up by €300m (+5.7%). However, Catering and other food service activities declined by -16.5% in 2025.

Over 300 establishments

There are 314 food and accommodation establishments in the Principality. There are six hotels in Monte-Carlo, five in La Condamine and three in Larvotto. Restaurants and mobile food services represent 255 establishments, split almost equally between Fast food (119) and Traditional restaurants (116), with 19 mobile food services. Beverage establishments (19) and Catering and other food service activities (25) complete the picture. Geographically, La Condamine stands out as the leading food hub with 93 addresses, ahead of Monte-Carlo (75) and Fontvieille (40).

Second largest employer

In 2025, Monaco’s accommodation and food sector had 8,988 employees, up 3.1% compared to 2024, and 191 employers (almost stable, compared to 192 in 2024). It remains the Principality’s second largest job provider for the third consecutive year. Hotels and similar accommodation businesses have the majority of the workforce (6,190 employees, or 68.9% of the sector). Restaurants and mobile food services account for 28.5% of the sector’s employees.

Young workforce

People under 35 accounted for nearly 40% of the workforce, with 25-34 year-olds  making 25.5% of the workforce and 15-24 year-olds making up 13.4%. Conversely, seniors aged 55 and over made up 16.3% of the workforce (which contrasts with the age structure observed across the Principality as a whole).

In 2025, 7,109 of the sector’s employees resided in France (79.1%), with most living in the Alpes-Maritimes, Nice, Menton, Beausoleil, and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. Furthermore, 10.8% live in Monaco and 10.1% in Italy. The majority of the workforce hold French nationality (60.5%), followed by Italians (21.4%). The sector is the leading employer of Monegasques with 425 Monegasque employees in 2025.

In 2025, tourism indicators were up compared to the previous year. Hotels welcomed 353,875 visitors, 3,771 more than the previous year (+1.1%). Occupied rooms (in nights) increased by 11,972, representing a growth of 2.1%. Hotel occupancy rate increased by 2.7 percentage points, reaching 64.5%.
