Knicks win first NBA title since 1973 with 94-90 victory over Spurs in Game 5.
New York City is set to host a ticker-tape parade and City Hall ceremony Thursday to congratulate the Knicks on their first NBA Finals championship win in 53 years, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced after the team's win Saturday night.
The Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 to clinch the series 4 games to 1.
The ticker-tape parade will start at 10 a.m. near The Battery and travel north along Broadway through the "Canyon of Heroes" before concluding at City Hall.
The parade will be the first to honor the team, according to the mayor.
"For more than 50 years, New Yorkers have waited for this moment. Through near misses, heartbreak and a hope that every year could be our year, this city never stopped believing in the Knicks. And this team fulfilled that hope with grit, resilience and heart — just like the five boroughs itself," Mamdani said in a statement.
More details about the parade will be announced later on.
In addition, City Hall and other municipal buildings around the city will glow orange and blue on Thursday.
