The Fever will take their four-game win streak to Toronto, as they continue a five-game road trip on Tuesday night against the expansion Tempo.
Indiana is coming off a 95-91 overtime victory in Atlanta on Sunday that provided some cushion for the Fever in the WNBA playoff race. Indiana is currently in fourth place, 1.5 games ahead of both the Dream and the Liberty. The top four teams at the end of the regular season get homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
The Fever got expected contributions from their three All-Stars as well as a big lift from a role player in Sunday's win. Caitlin Clark led the way with 26 points and nine assists, Kelsey Mitchell scored 20 points, and Aliyah Boston stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and five steals. But it was second-year forward Makayla Timpson who was the star of the night, scoring a career-high 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and pulling down five of her seven rebounds on the offensive glass.
All eyes will be on Mitchell on Tuesday as she goes for a WNBA record. Mitchell has scored 20 or more points in 19 consecutive games, one shy of the league record set by A'ja Wilson over the end of the 2023 and start of the 2024 seasons.
This is the Fever's first-ever visit to Toronto. They beat the Tempo 113-91 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on June 16 and will host Toronto once more on Sept. 18 after the FIBA World Cup break.
The Tempo have scuffled, dropping 10 straight and 14 of their last 15 games. They should be well-rested, however, as they last played on Wednesday in Dallas.
Toronto is led by Notre Dame alum Marina Mabrey, who was a first-time All-Star this season. Mabrey is averaging 20.8 points and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from 3-point range, and 88.5 percent from the free throw line.
