Woof. Play. Eat., a combination indoor-outdoor dog park and restaurant on Northport Drive in North Deering, has temporarily closed.

“This has been an extremely difficult decision for us and our team,” reads a statement from co-owner Brad Sterl. “Woof Play Eat has temporarily paused operations while we evaluate the options available to the business.”

Sterl said he had no further information to offer on the reasons behind the closure.

Woof. Play. Eat. fully launched in January in a 15,000-square-foot space that includes an 85-seat restaurant with a full bar and a 10,000-square-foot indoor play area for dogs.

In June, the Barkery Dog Bar, an indoor dog park with a restaurant and bar in South Portland’s Mill Creek Shopping Center, announced that it would close for good. The owners said they believed the concept is still viable.

“We believe deeply in the opportunity it creates for community, connection, responsible dog ownership, and local partnership,” they wrote in a farewell post on social media. “But it is also a newer concept, and the runway is longer than we were financially able to carry.”
