UK digital bank Zopa has teamed up with Hive to provide a path for homeowners to finance solar and other green home upgrades.

According to a statement from Zopa, customers may now apply for a Zopa-based loan on the Hive website.

Zopa notes that the UK government reports that 269,000 systems were installed in 2025 — up 37% on the year before. That momentum has apparently carried into 2026, with nine of the ten busiest months on record falling in the last 12 months.

Zopa states that most applicants will receive a quote in about three minutes and funds available within hours of approval. Loans can be had for up to £50,000 with an approximate APR of 8.9% – subject to the borrower’s specifics.

Tim Waterman, Chief Commercial Officer at Zopa Bank, said pairing Zopa’s lending platform with Hive’s green-tech products removes that barrier and lets people pay over time through a straightforward, regulated process.

Susan Wells, Director of EV & Solar at Hive, said the initial cost outlay remains a real obstacle for solar adoption. The Zopa partnership makes the technology more reachable for more homes.

Hive reports over 2.5 million customers including heating, solar, EV charging, heat pumps and related products.

The deal also marks the launch of Zopa for Business; the embedded finance platform that brings together payments, retail finance, auto finance and embedded partnerships in one place.
