Bartlett City Schools is proud to congratulate Bartlett High School Criminal Justice teacher Ray Schwill on being selected as the recipient of the Tennessee Statewide Dual Credit (SDC) Lifetime Achievement Award for Criminal Justice.

The award recognizes one educator from each Statewide Dual Credit course whose dedication, student outcomes, and long-term contributions have made an exceptional impact throughout the life of the program.

For years, Mr. Schwill has prepared students for careers in criminal justice by challenging them to meet college-level expectations while developing the professionalism, discipline, and critical thinking skills needed for careers in public service. Through the Statewide Dual Credit program, countless Bartlett High School students earned valuable postsecondary credit while gaining confidence in their ability to succeed beyond high school.

Reflecting on the recognition, Mr. Schwill said the most rewarding part of teaching has been preparing students “for the rigorous expectations of higher education and the higher standard expected of those who choose public service as a profession.”

One of his favorite success stories involves a former student who discovered a passion for law enforcement after exploring several career paths. Today, she serves as a Memphis police officer and has been recognized for helping save the life of a young man in crisis.

Throughout his career, Mr. Schwill has been a strong advocate for career and technical education, believing vocational pathways provide meaningful opportunities for students to build successful futures. He credits the Statewide Dual Credit program with inspiring students to challenge themselves academically while demonstrating that hard work and dedication can lead to postsecondary success.

The Tennessee Board of Regents and the Tennessee Statewide Dual Credit Program will recognize Mr. Schwill and the other Lifetime Achievement Award recipients in the 2025-2026 Statewide Dual Credit Annual Data Report.

Congratulations to Ray Schwill on this well-deserved honor and thank you for your outstanding service to the students of Bartlett High School and Bartlett City Schools.
