Apple reported its quarterly earnings today, which set a Q3 record and beat Wall Street expectations. And alongside the earnings report, the company shared that it now has over 1.5 billion paid subscriptions.
Apple now has 1.5 billion subscriptions, three years after reaching 1 billionApple’s services division, which delivers hefty margins, continued its steady growth, posting a revenue increase of 12% during the quarter to over $30 billion…Apple highlighted growth from advertising, App Store, AppleCare warranties, music, video, cloud services, and payment services.
Cook said Apple has 1.5 billion paid subscriptions, which includes iCloud as well as app subscriptions in the App Store for which Apple takes a cut.
Back in 2023, Apple reported that it had surpassed 1 billion subscriptions. So hitting 1.5 billion almost exactly three years later is quite a feat.
Apple subscriptions include its own in-house services like Apple TV, Apple Music, iCloud+, and the Apple One bundle.
But it’s widely expected that a very large chunk of the 1.5 billion number comes from App Store app subscriptions too.
Whenever an iPhone, iPad, or Mac user subscribes to a third-party app downloaded from the App Store, Apple gets a cut of that revenue. Thus, it’s able to count those subscriptions in its overall number.
