Citizen has added a new model to its US catalog with the release of the BJ6570-50E, categorized under the Addysen line. The watch is priced at $450. It is a rectangular, stainless steel dress watch that operates on the company’s Eco-Drive solar technology rather than a standard disposable battery or a mechanical movement.

Design Details

The case is constructed from silver-tone stainless steel. It features a rectangular shape, measuring 36mm in length and 26.5mm in width. The dial is black and uses applied Roman numerals for the hour markers. The watch face is covered by sapphire crystal, a material standard in this price range because it provides higher scratch resistance and hardness compared to basic mineral glass or acrylic.

The watch comes with a matching silver-tone, seven-link stainless steel bracelet. It secures to the wrist using a fold-over clasp equipped with push buttons for release. The lug width, the space where the bracelet attaches to the watch case, measures 20mm.

Internally, the BJ6570-50E runs on Citizen’s E037 Eco-Drive movement. This is a solar-powered quartz system. It functions by utilizing a solar cell positioned beneath the dial. This cell absorbs both natural sunlight and artificial indoor light, converting that light into electrical energy.

The energy is then stored in a rechargeable power cell that drives the movement. Because the system continually recharges with ambient light exposure, the watch does not require the routine battery replacements associated with standard quartz watches.

For water resistance, the watch is rated at 50 meters, which is equivalent to 5 Bar or 166 feet. This rating makes the watch suitable for still water swimming. In practical terms, it can withstand rain, hand washing, and shallow submersion, but it lacks the necessary seals for high-pressure water activities, water sports, or diving.

Pricing and Availability

The Citizen Addysen (BJ6570-50E) is available now through Citizen’s US website and select retail locations for $450. The watch pictures in the listing also reveal additional colourways, which are expected to launch at a later date.
