Some people thrive in the cold, others long for warmer days — but there’s one thing guaranteed to unite us in the depths of an Arctic blast: irresistibly cute photos of animals braving the freeze.
Across the UK, the sudden cold snap has caught plenty of creatures off guard, resulting in a flood of charming, often unintentionally hilarious moments captured on camera.
In Aviemore, Scotland, a reindeer was spotted trotting down a frosty road with its tongue cheekily poking out - a perfectly timed snap capable of melting hearts .
Farther south in the Lake District, a Canada goose stood proudly beneath crisp blue skies, seemingly unfazed by the icy chill rolling across its feathers.
Nature served up even more striking scenes in Northern Ireland, where a lone horse trekked across the snow-blanketed Black Mountain in Belfast, its dark silhouette cutting through the white wilderness.
Elsewhere, baby geese were photographed waddling through a snow-dusted field at Lockwood Beck after a night of heavy snowfall in Lingdale - a sight as sweet as it was unexpected.
And of course, no wintry roundup would be complete without the nation’s dogs. Many have spent the day cooped up indoors, only to explode with pure joy once finally let loose to bound, skid and sprint across fresh snow with their owners.
After a few days dominated by travel chaos, school closures and plunging temperatures, these small flashes of animal magic have offered the perfect - and much-needed - momentary escape.
