Woman dead at Oceanside home days after domestic violence complaint, records show

Дата публикации: 07-04-2026 12:55:55

A man suspected of killing a woman in her Oceanside home held police in an hours-long standoff Tuesday before he was taken into custody with potentially fatal self-inflicted injuries, the Oceanside Police Department said.
Oceanside police responded around 9 a.m. after someone called 911 to report a woman yelling at the home in a cul-de-sac at the 2300 block of Fallingleaf Rd., OPD spokesperson Gina Avalos said. Around 1:45 p.m., broken glass and bangs were heard.
Law enforcement arrived on the scene, where they found an unresponsive woman and a man barricading himself inside the home. Investigators believe that the woman was killed and the man who barricaded himself is believed to be the suspect, police said.
Police then called in OPD tactical and crisis negotiation teams. After an hours-long standoff, SWAT officers arrested the suspect. The man had multiple self-inflicted, life-threatening injuries, police said.
Personnel from the Oceanside Fire Department gave the suspect medical aid and transported him to a hospital.
Detectives from OPD’s Crimes of Violence Unit are investigating the homicide. The identities of both the victim and the suspect are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Due to the isolated nature of the incident, there is no additional threat to public safety, according to police.
While police have not yet identified the suspect or victim, a cross-check of property and court records indicates a man by the same name as the owner of the home was listed as a person of interest Saturday at the same location in connection with a domestic violence complaint. He was then put under a six-day temporary restraining order.
A construction worker witnessed that Saturday police response.
“It’s very sad to see that happen,” he said.
The worker wished not to be identified by name but described the scene at this home much like what he saw Tuesday morning — a lot of police and commotion.
“They got him on Saturday, but I don’t know why they released him and now we have the lady dead now,” he added.
Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact Oceanside Police Detective Ryan Malone at (760) 435-4537 or the Anonymous Tip Line at (760) 435-4730.
