Protesters disrupted Republican supporters who had gathered for a gala dinner to celebrate Donald Trump 's second UK state visit. The climate protesters interrupted a sold-out Republican Overseas UK State Visit Dinner at Windsor Guildhall last night as Trump landed in the UK. Campaigners shouted 'if you drill baby drill, how many will you kill?', mocking one of the president's well-known sayings.
They also held up a banner reading 'oily money kills' as drums were beaten while they were removed from the building. Footage shows male diners forcing the two protesters out of the dining hall as one of the demonstrators was carried out by his hands and feet. The three-course dinner was held just minutes away from Windsor Castle, where Trump is being hosted by King Charles this week.
Greg Swenson, the chairman of Republicans Overseas UK, told GB News that the pair of protestors 'snuck in as people were settling in'. 'They had to be dragged out - which is their thing. It was actually entertaining,' he said. This protest joins a series of actions against Trump's visit to the UK, with a large demonstration planned in central London today organised by the Stop Trump Coalition.
Robin Wells, director of Fossil Free London said: 'The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries think almost a half of the world's population will lose their lives due to climate impacts in our lifetime. 'This cascading risk is the greatest security threat our world has ever known. 'But Trump wants us packing salt into the wounds of our planet to benefit him and his billionaire mates. He better think again.'
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: 'We received a report of a public order incident at a private event in Windsor Guildhall at approximately 8.45pm this evening. 'Two individuals were removed by the event organisers and no arrests were made.' It comes as four people have been arrested after images of Jeffrey Epstein, Prince Andrew and Trump were projected on to Windsor Castle as the President begins his state visit today.
Thousands are expected to descend on London to protest Mr Trump's trip, with other demonstrations gearing up around the UK in opposition to his two-day stay. About 1,600 police officers will be in the capital, around Westminster, amid a march involving 50 groups which has been organised by the Stop Trump Coalition. Mr Trump landed at London Stansted for his second state visit to the UK last night, where he spoke of how being in Britain 'warm[ed]' his heart.
More protests are expected throughout his whirlwind trip. Thames Valley Police have since confirmed four adults were arrested on suspicion of malicious communication after what they called a 'public stunt' on the castle. Mr Trump is staying at Windsor Castle as Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing a £369million refurbishment, which isn't due for completion until 2027. On the projection stunt, Chief Superintendent Felicity Parker said: 'We take any unauthorised activity around Windsor Castle extremely seriously.
'Our officers responded swiftly to stop the projection and four people have been arrested. 'We are conducting a thorough investigation with our partners into the circumstances surrounding this incident and will provide further updates when we are in a position to do so.' It came after activists unveiled a 400 sq metre photograph of Mr Trump with Epstein outside the castle on Monday.
Activists calling themselves 'Everyone Hates Elon' had raised more than £30,000 via a crowdfunder titled 'Ruin Trump's UK visit with this Epstein photo'. A group spokesman said: 'Trump's supporters are tearing themselves apart over the Epstein files.
Now he's hoping to escape it all to have tea with the King. 'But there's no way we're letting him use our country to polish his image. Most people here hate what he stands for. We're ready to make sure Epstein haunts him everywhere he goes.'
More protests are expected today with thousands set to descend on central London, with other demonstrations gearing up around the UK in opposition to the US President's two-day stay. Road closures will allow protesters to march on Parliament Square from around 2pm. Last night protesters at Windsor were chanting 'Dump Trump' even before the US president had landed.
