Getting approval to attend a conference often means showing more than personal interest. It means explaining how the event connects to your library’s priorities, your team’s goals, and the work you will bring back to your institution.

IGeLU 2026, taking place in Taipei from October 19 to 22, offers a timely opportunity to do that. As libraries navigate AI, automation, changing user expectations, workflow complexity, and pressure on resources, the conference brings together peers, product experts, community leaders, and Clarivate users who are working through many of the same questions.

Connect attendance to institutional value

At IGeLU 2026, attendees can learn how other libraries are approaching practical challenges across discovery, metadata, resource sharing, analytics, accessibility, AI, and workflow improvement.

These are not abstract topics, they connect directly to the work many libraries are already prioritizing: improving services, making better use of existing systems, preparing for new technologies, supporting users more effectively, and aligning library work with broader institutional goals.

The conference also provides access to Clarivate product teams and roadmap discussions, giving attendees a clearer view of future developments across Clarivate library solutions. That insight can help libraries plan ahead, ask more informed questions, and understand how upcoming changes may affect local strategy and operations.

Show what you will bring back

When making the case to attend, it helps to be specific about the outcomes you expect. You may return with examples from peer institutions, ideas for improving workflows, a better understanding of AI and automation in practice, or new perspectives from libraries working in different regional contexts.

You can also highlight the value of in-person conversations. Meeting peers, product managers, and community leaders can create opportunities to ask detailed questions, compare approaches, and build relationships that continue beyond the conference.

Need help making the case? The IGeLU 2026 justification letter can be used as a starting point when requesting approval. Adapt it to your role, your institution’s priorities, and the specific outcomes you want to bring back.

Register before the Early Bird deadline on 31 August 2026 to secure your place in Taipei.
