Ricciardo retired after he was hit from behind by Lance Stroll. He has told reporters;
It's a restart so we don't know what the leaders are going to do so you have to be vigilant and prepare for any situation.
I can see it was bunching up in the hairpin but then how hard he hit me. It was miles off that's for me is not an excuse.
You can see he's not looking at me he's looking at the apex. Clearly he was focused on something else
Max Verstappen powered to another dominant win in Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix - as Lewis Hamilton complained his car was 'slow' and 'broken' after he finished ninth.
Verstappen emerged unscathed from two safety car periods to secure his 38th win from the last 49 staged in Formula One on his unstoppable march towards a fourth straight championship.
But for Hamilton, now 50 races and 868 long days without a victory, this marked another sobering afternoon in his uncompetitive Mercedes.

Max Verstappen wins the Chinese Grand Prix for the first time!!!
Lando Norris what a performance from him to take second place and beat the faster Red Bull of Sergio Perez.
Ferrari can't make the podium this time as Charles Leclerc comes fourth ahead of Carlos Sainz and George Russell.
Fernando Alonso, Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hulkenberg round out the points.
We survived the restarts well and the car was basically on rails and I could do whatever I wanted with it.
"Those kind of weekends are amazing to feel and to achieve what we did this weekend is fantastic.'
I was surprised by many things: the lack of pace from Ferrari, our good pace, and I guess us comparing to the Red Bull which was so surprising.
I just wasn't expecting today. I got everything ready to go home early and not be on the podium, so it's a pleasant surprise. But it shows the team have done a good job, have worked hard and it's paying off.
I made a bet how far behind the Ferrari we would finish today. I thought 35s - and I was very wrong by that. So happy to be wrong with myself, and my own bets, but a good day for everyone.'
It really cost us quite a bit unfortunately we got the Safety Car and lost two places.
We did most of the lap on the hard and fighting like that in the early laps, the life of the tyre goes off dramatically but at least we got onto the podium. But it would have been good to be one and two.
We were definitely lacking some pace, especially on the medium compound, we struggled a bit with the balance.
We changed a lot from yesterday to today, so we didn't read the conditions as perfectly as we could.
But overall it was a strong weekend and we understand the reasons today why the race pace was a little down.'
Norris forgets he needs to drive to the track for the top three rather than in the pits. He was seen going backwards in the pit-lane but he eventually took his place in the pits instead of going back out onto the track.
Verstappen on his radio has said
That was fantastic. It was on fire. The car was really really good. Fantastic job guys. Well done. Pit stops, we did really, really well this weekend.'
Lap 55: Brilliant drive by Lando Norris who is 4.9 seconds clear of Sergio Perez and is on his way to second.
But there is concern for Max Verstappen in front who reports that he has run over some debris and asks the team to check out his tyres.
Surely everything is good for the Dutchman though as he enters his final lap.
