RIO DE JANEIRO, August 21. /TASS/. Presidents Donald Trump of the United States and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil have called for the soonest settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, the press service of the Brazilian leader said after their phone call.

"The presidents stressed the need to urgently find a mutually agreed-upon solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has been ongoing for nearly five years," it said.

According to the press service, the Brazilian president drew attention of his US counterpart to the need for discussing a reform of the United Nations and its Security Council. "Lula da Silva express regret about the UN Security Council’s impotency and, as the head of state noted earlier [in phone calls] with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, he proposed to call an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council to try to find diplomatic solutions to international crises," it added.
