The Daily Beast has signed with Daylight Media for ad sales, distribution and monetization of The Daily Beast’s portfolio of podcasts, including The Daily Beast Podcast, Inside Trump’s Head and Obsessed.
Podtrac released its January ranker. Overall, total audience was up for January over December. The Ezra Klein Show is highest new entry at #14. The ranker measures participating publishers only.
Ultimate Pods is a new app that bills itself “the future of books and podcasts”. The idea is that listeners can pause any episode, ask a question, and hear the host answer them in their actual voice using AI synthesis. It’s $4.99 a week; the developer, Ben Ganz, claims more than 50 paying subscribers already, and 20+ creators already signed up.
Good news from Ireland, as two electricians have grown their podcast to an industry platform, with plans to expand this year. The podcasters plan a trades awards event, as well as a purpose-built studio.
The Straight, an Australian horse racing website, profiles John Tapp - who started podcasting at the age of 74. Seven and a half years later, John Tapp Racing is on episode 565.

The Tech Stuff - with RSS.comThe method used by some podcast apps (notably Fountain, Castamatic and Podcast Guru) for listeners to give money to podcast hosts while they listen, sometimes known as “streaming sats”, has been changing - no more incomprehensible “node addresses”, now a simple payment address that looks like an email address. Look for the podcast:value tag in our RSS for an example. Strike is a (free) bank account for Bitcoin; and today, Podnews launches Runway, a free tool for Strike users, in beta, to help you know who paid you - and let you read their messages. (We needed one anyway, so we thought it would be nice if it worked for everyone).
