With Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, the following JET-based types of backup repositories can be added to the infrastructure:

• Local directory on a backup proxy server.
• Direct Attached Storage is connected to the backup proxy server.
• Storage Area Network.
• Network Attached Storage (SMB shares version 3.0 or later)

Note:

JET-based backup repositories don’t support Linux proxy servers and backup proxy pools.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft does not support encryption at-rest JET-based backup repositories.

If your system supports BitLocker technology, you can use it to store your backups on encrypted volumes. The volume’s I/O rate may alter following encryption.

1. Login to the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Manager server.

2. Open the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 console.

3. On the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 console page, select Backup Infrastructure.

4. On the Backup Infrastructure page, right-click Backup Repositories and select Add backup repository.

5. On the Specify details for backup Repository page, enter the backup repository name in the Name field and click Next.

6. Select Backup to local disk on the Target location for your backups and click Next.

7. On the Backup proxy page, click Select in the Backup proxy or proxy pool.

8. Select the target proxy server and click OK.

9. Click Browse in the Path field.

10. Select the backup target folder on the Select the folder page and click OK.

11. On the Backup proxy page, click Get free space to know the available space on the selected backup proxy server.

12. Click Next on the Backup proxy page.

13. Select the Retention policy period on the Retention policy settings page.

14. Select the retention type and click Finish.

Note:

The retention type cannot the changed once set.

15. Verify that the Backup Repository has been added.
