GTA 6 leaks are all the gaming community can talk about right now. Since August 18, when the first leaked gameplay footage popped up, several new developments have surfaced. While the leaks themselves are not ideal for Rockstar or Take-Two, there’s another significant outcome, one that Take-Two probably expected.
According to the five-day Yahoo Finance numbers, Take-Two’s stock price dropped from $248.13 before the leaks to as low as $231.6 after the leaks. That’s estimated to be just over $3 billion in market cap loss. That's a significant loss, even for a corporation that sits at a $44 billion market cap.
At the time of publishing, the stock price has started to recover and is sitting at $236.05. This was likely a short-lived decline caused by the data breach and the threat issued by the hacker group CyberLeek in its manifesto. Notably, fluctuations in the stock market are normal, but the timing does seem to coincide with the leaks.
The group is demanding a stop to digital pre-orders, the sale of fake single-player DLC, and the preservation of single-player content. Along with these demands, CyberLeek also wants Rockstar to issue a public apology. Neither Take-Two nor Rockstar has yet responded to the data breach, but their swift action in taking the videos down suggests the footage is legitimate, though possibly from a slightly older build of the game.
