As the clock ticks closer to the return of CBS’ 60 Minutes, the show continues to add new on-air talent in a bid to replenish its team of journalists.

60 Minutes executive producer Nick Bilton on Monday informed staff at the newsmagazine that Ariel Levy is latest addition, joining the show as a contributor. Levy is currently a staff writer at The New Yorker.

“Ariel is an astonishingly original writer and reporter, fearlessly going to far-flung places and exploring sensitive topics that have driven consequential debates,” Bilton wrote in a memo, which was viewed by The Hollywood Reporter. “For nearly three decades, first at New York magazine and then at The New Yorker, she has reported on culture, gender, sexuality, health and the people and ideas shaping modern life in a way that is entirely unique. “

Levy is also the author of the book Female Chauvinist Pigs, which explores raunch culture.

Levy joins a roster of contributors and correspondents that includes New York Times columnist Ross Douthat, The Perfect Storm author Sebastian Junger, Vice News veteran Gianna Toboni, and Norah O’Donnell, who will have more of a presence on the show moving forward after serving as a contributor for years.

Douthat will be a correspondent, with Junger and Toboni serving as contributors. Trevor Phillips, who joined CBS News as senior global affairs correspondent, will also be a contributor. They will all join existing correspondents Bill Whitaker, Lesley Stahl, and Jon Wertheim.

The show had been four correspondents down, after Anderson Cooper opted to exit earlier this year, and after the terminations of Cecilia Vega, Sharyn Alfonsi and Scott Pelley over the summer as Bari Weiss sought to overhaul the show under Bilton’s leadership.

“Ariel adds to our truly exceptional group of correspondents and contributors for Season 59,” Bilton wrote. “They bring different journalism backgrounds, experiences, interests and ways of telling stories, but they share the qualities that matter here: curiosity, independence, incredible reporting, a willingness to hold power to account, and an instinct for the kind of stories people can’t stop watching.”
