Hideo Kojima - known as the director of the Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid series - celebrated his 63rd birthday recently. Don't worry though, he's not interested in retiring just yet.

In a big post made to X, Kojima shared his thoughts on his career moving forward alongside a video of the Lumens statue in the Kojima Productions office. He wrote: "I've turned 63. As the years pile on, the things I 'must do' and the things I 'want to do' just keep multiplying. At the same time, the 'time I have available' keeps shrinking. I need to constantly scrutinize how I spend my time and how I live my life (my way of being).

"That said, once I've shouldered a burden, I can't just leave it behind. This year marks the 40th anniversary since I first started making games. It's also the 10th anniversary of founding Kojipro. From late October through the end of the year, we're planning to hold the 'Kojipro Exhibition,' at the Azabudai Hills Gallery. Even the entrance Ludens has been updated to the '10th Anniversary Ludens' version. Amid all sorts of opportunities and offers coming my way, I want to keep pouring my energy into game creation going forward. Looking forward to your continued support."

It's wild to think of someone like Kojima as being 63, especially if you were familiar with some of his earlier works. Like Deus Ex lead Warren Spector who announced his retirement last week, he's been making games for around four decades now, which is certainly a long stretch of time to dedicate to one field. Kojima, who has mused on creating films and exploring other mediums, could certainly venture out to other projects if he wanted to.

However, he may have his hands full with games for now. Kojima and his staff at Kojima Productions are currently at work on a variety of projects, including the experimental horror game OD (which thankfully is safe after widespread Xbox cuts), and a stealth action game called Physint which we still know precious little about. So we shouldn't have to worry about his absence any time soon.
