I reviewed DAZE denim years ago and remember being really impressed with the fit, comfort and price…and then, honestly, I kind of forgot about them.

So when the brand recently reached out, I was excited to try them again, especially now that so many of the jeans I wear regularly are well over $200. And while I’m not giving up my beloved premium denim anytime soon (you can’t convince me there’s anything better than MOTHER for curves), trying DAZE again reminded me just how good these jeans are for the price.

I tried two of their current wide-leg styles, the Pleaser High Rise Wide Ankle and the Far Out High Rise Wide Leg. Both are under $120 and fit really well, but they’re different enough that I could make a case for keeping both.

I was kind of shocked by how well these fit. I typically have a hard time finding jeans that fit both my waist and hips, and these don’t gap at the waist at all (I’m wearing my usual size 28). They’re basically the quintessential wide-leg jean: high rise, fitted through the waist and hips, then long and wide through the leg.

These have a 12-inch rise and 32-inch inseam, and at 5’4″, they’re definitely long on me. I’m wearing heels here and they’re still skimming the floor, so I’d either plan on wearing these with some height or just hacking off the bottom (super easy with a raw hem like this) if you’re on the shorter side like me. I do love the extra-long length, though, especially with the twisted seams that DAZE says are designed to give the appearance of longer legs. I’ll take it!

The denim itself is soft and really comfortable, with a good amount of stretch (93% cotton, 5% polyester and 2% spandex) while still feeling substantial enough to hold everything in. I think that stretch is part of why the fit works so well, especially at the waist. It hugs my curves without gapping or feeling restrictive. They come in 14 different washes/colors, too!!

The Pleaser High Rise Wide Ankle might technically be an “ankle jean,” but on my 5’4″ frame? It’s basically the perfect full-length wide leg. The 27-inch inseam hits right around the top of my foot, which means I get that full-length look without having to hem them (although, again, the raw hem makes them easy to shorten). Taller mamas will obviously get more of the cropped look DAZE intended.

I’m wearing my usual size 28 in these, too, and the fit through the waist and butt is really, really good. They have the same 12-inch rise and stretchy-but-structured denim as the Far Outs, and they’re fitted through my waist and hips before falling into the wide leg. The back pockets are perfectly placed, too, giving my butt a little lift rather than flattening it.

And I LOVE the unique wash and raw, scissor-cut hem, and these come in 12 different washes, so there’s a ton to choose from. If you’re on the shorter side and have been looking for a wide-leg jean you can actually wear straight out of the box, though, the 27-inch inseam is especially good.

OK, DAZE, I’m sorry I forgot about you. 😂 I still love my premium denim, but at under $120 (and some washes on sale for under $60!), these are really good. The fit is what surprised me most, especially through the waist and hips, and they’re soft and comfy enough that I actually want to wear them.

And now that they’re on my radar again, I really want to try this jacket! 😍
