The Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (AROI), Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Chapter, organised its annual conference on September 12 and 13 here on Saturday.

The conference brought together approximately 300 delegates, including leading radiation oncologists, medical professionals and experts in cancer care from across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and other parts of India.

The conference aimed to provide an important platform to enlighten advances used at International and National level to grass root level to achieve cure and better quality of life for cancer patients.

Organisers said the conference would also help in sharing the latest advances in radiation oncology, discussing evolving treatment strategies, exchanging clinical experiences and strengthening multidisciplinary cancer care.

Chief Guest P. VIjay Anand Reddy, Radiation Oncologist, Director – Apollo Cancer Centre, Hyderabad, said, “Modern cancer treatment is moving towards precision at its best, delivering the right treatment to the right patient at the right time, with the right dose and the right technology.”

He stressed that precision should go beyond technology. It requires – accurate diagnosis and staging; individualised treatment planning; multi-disciplinary decision making; advanced radiation techniques; integration of surgery, systemic therapy and radiotherapy.

Most importantly, Dr. Reddy stated that placing the patient at the centre of every treatment decision was the key.

He emphasised, “Precision at its best is not merely about advanced technology; it is about bringing together expertise, evidence and empathy to deliver the best possible care to every patient.”

While Srinivasan Krishnan, President, AROI TN and PY, delivered the presidential address, Rajesh Balakrishnan, Secretary, AROI TN and PY delivered secretary address and K. Mahalakshmi Prasad, Organising Secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.
