Reimagining Keralam, the three-day event featuring a series of Round Table Conferences on the State government's flagship development projects, concluded here on Friday.

The government promised prompt follow-up action to fast-track major schemes proposed in the state Budget for 2026-27.

The deliberations focused on laying out implementation pathways for 35 transformational projects.

Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Devaswoms K Muraleedharan and Minister for Cooperation and Excise M Liju addressed the valedictory session of the event, according to an official statement.

The three-day event was inaugurated by Chief Minister V D Satheesan and featured a series of roundtables on the vision, scope, ownership, institutional arrangements, resource requirements and implementation strategies for individual programmes across multiple domains.

Welcoming the investors who attended the event, Muraleedharan said the state government was committed to promoting investments and fast-tracking projects.

“We want Keralites to live and work in the state itself by creating more job opportunities and better education facilities. For that, we are cooperating with the Central government despite political differences, and also with local self-governing bodies to create a conducive environment for investment and development in the state,” the minister said.

Muraleedharan added that the government was giving emphasis to the health and tourism sectors.

Apart from private institutions in the health sector, the government had initiated steps to ensure that government hospitals and Ayush centres delivered high-quality wellness services to the people, he said.

Liju noted that Keralam’s rich social capital could be leveraged to create more jobs.

The state government was committed to creating an environment for this transformation by utilising the state’s strong human development indicators, he said.

While many states and countries viewed the increase in the elderly population with concern, the present government in Keralam considered it an asset and was drawing up plans to utilise the skills and expertise of senior citizens for the state’s development, Liju said.

Stating that the cooperative sector played a vital role in the southern state, he said that while its contribution to GDP was 2-3 per cent at the national level, it was 8-9 per cent in Keralam. The state government had plans to increase this to more than 10 per cent, he noted.

The state government was committed to leveraging the economic potential of Keralam’s coastal ecosystem, which stretches over 500 km, Liju said.

“We welcome investors to look into the immense possibilities Keralam offers in different sectors and also make use of the new Saral Keralam initiative, which eases the project implementation process,” he added.

Reimagining Keralam brought together ministers, senior bureaucrats, domain experts, representatives of government departments and agencies, regulatory authorities, knowledge institutions, industry, funding agencies and stakeholders from multiple sectors to give concrete shape to project proposals and set them on clearly defined implementation pathways.

The topics deliberated at the event ranged from the Southern Kerala Economic Corridor, Investment Advisory Council and Special Investment Zone to the Global Gold Hub, Malayalam AI initiative, GenZ and New-Gen Technology, Incubation Centre, Kerala MSME Growth Scheme, National Pilgrimage Centres, Muziris Heritage Project and Space Economy.

The initiative aims to prepare a framework to enable various departments to proceed with feasibility studies, master plans, Detailed Project Reports or consultancy engagements, the statement added.
