GENEVA, September 24. /TASS/. The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has estimated the cost of rebuilding the Gaza Strip at $71.5 billion, according to its new report.

According to the report, 92% of Gaza’s economic assets have been damaged or destroyed since October 2023. Gross domestic product per capita stood at $212 in 2025, or about $0.58 per person per day, which is 17% of the 2022 level. The unemployment rate reached 78%. Gaza’s share of Palestinian gross domestic product fell from 17.4% to less than 4%. All productive sectors remain well below their 2022 levels. Agriculture and industry are down 94%, while construction is down 99%.

According to estimates by the World Bank, the European Union and the United Nations, physical damage to infrastructure amounts to $35.2 billion, while economic and social losses total $22.7 billion. Reconstruction needs stand at $71.5 billion and may increase.

UNCTAD identified three main priorities: transferring withheld Palestinian revenues, protecting the banking system and aligning reconstruction support with the scale of the damage, the report said.
