The city of Chattanooga, along with community partners and local families, was celebrating the opening of the Harvesting Inclusive Playground.

A groundbreaking is Saturday morning at Jack Benson Heritage Park.

The $2 million, farm-themed project, spearheaded by local Chattanooga Fire Captain Skyler Phillips, is the largest universally inclusive play space in the region.

Spanning nearly 15,000 square feet, the playground exceeds standard ADA requirements to offer 100 percent accessibility across all ground-level and elevated components, ensuring children and parents of all abilities can play shoulder-to-shoulder without physical or social barriers. 

The event is at 1428 Jenkins Road, East Brainerd at 10 a.m.
