A Delhi court on Thursday remanded the three accused — Asif and brothers Hemant and Mukesh — arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Kalkaji in judicial custody for 14 days.

According to the FIR, the three posed as police personnel in Astha Kunj Park in south-east Delhi, where the girl had come with a friend, on the night of September 21, gang-raped her and beat up her friend.

The three were arrested on September 22. A city court remanded them in two-day judicial custody on Wednesday. The Delhi police have not sought their custody so far.

The mobile phones of all three accused have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Vineet Kumar said on Thursday.

Another officer said the three were frequently seen loitering in the park and that Mr. Asif was allegedly seen carrying weapons, including a knife and a firearm, and harassing young people.

The trio had repeatedly harassed women, although no formal complaint had been lodged against them in those instances, the officer added.

Mr. Hemant had allegedly been removed from a gym about a month ago after its management received multiple complaints from women about his improper behaviour, said the officer.
