It’s hard not to get excited about updates on Palm Jebel Ali, and this latest one is sure to catch the attention of shoppers. Dubai’s mega-project has announced its first retail and lifestyle destination, The Yard.

Run by Dubai Retail, one of the region’s largest groups of malls and retail destinations, The Yard is scheduled to open in 2027. Visitors will be able to enjoy a mix of retail, dining and lifestyle experiences, with everyday essentials, wellness, healthcare and social spaces all brought together in one convenient spot.

According to Dubai Media Office, it will span 70,000 square feet of leasable space and bring together 26 concepts across retail, dining, wellness and healthcare. It is expected to serve approximately 20,000 residents across the surrounding communities.

Confirmed brands include Waitrose, American Hospital, Piccoli, Jumeirah International Nursery, Bateel Café and Friends Avenue.

The waterfront setting will be a big part of the experience, with open terraces and communal spaces where visitors can dine and unwind while taking in views of the water. The Yard will also have a direct link to a waterfront promenade and nearby open spaces.

The addition takes Dubai Retail’s portfolio to 57 malls and lifestyle destinations across the emirate, strengthening its presence in some of Dubai’s key growth areas.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled the master plan of Palm Jebel Ali early in 2023. The new mega project is twice the size of Palm Jumeirah, spreading over some 13.4 square kilometres. With seven connected islands, Palm Jebel Ali will be home to no less than 80 new hotels and resorts.

Sheikh Mohammed tweeted that the mega project would feature “a wide choice of entertainment and leisure facilities”.

Khalid Al Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Real Estate, said, “Palm Jebel Ali is being shaped as one of Dubai’s most exciting new waterfront destinations, bringing together exceptional homes, beaches, open spaces and lifestyle experiences across an iconic island setting. Strong progress is being made across the island, with major infrastructure works advancing and the first villa communities moving forward on schedule. As Palm Jebel Ali takes shape, it will add a new dimension to Dubai’s coastal lifestyle and become a place people aspire to live, visit and experience for generations to come.”

Besides The Yard and the beach promenade, we can also expect a yacht club, beach clubs (including a family beach club), a leisure park, an iconic tower with 360-degree views, a sports and wellness club, hotels including a family resort; signature wellness resort and eco resort, residential properties (of course) and more.
