iPhone buyers in the United States can file claims for a share of the $250 million class action settlement over Apple's promotion of Siri's Apple Intelligence features, with payments of up to $95 per eligible phone.

The settlement covers certain iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models bought between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025, and the deadline to submit a claim is December 21.

Apple agreed to the settlement in May. The lawsuit claimed that the company overhyped its Apple Intelligence tools, specifically the long-delayed Siri AI overhaul, to sell iPhones.

Apple denies any wrongdoing as part of the settlement. In a statement from May, the company said it resolved the matter "to stay focused on doing what we do best."

The revamped Siri is now available on newer iPhones through iOS 27. Buyers may still be eligible to claim money back for past purchases, since the settlement is tied to how the phones were marketed at the time of sale. The Siri overhaul is also the subject of earlier gHacks coverage on letting users replace Siri with Claude or ChatGPT.

A claim has to meet all of these conditions:

• the buyer is a customer in the United States
• the device is a qualifying iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 model
• the purchase was made between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025

Claimants must also sign a statement confirming that they expected to receive a Siri Apple Intelligence feature and did not receive it. The report refers to "certain" iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models without listing each one, so the claim form itself is the final check for a specific device.

Claims are submitted through the official settlement website, smartphoneaisettlement.com. The process takes a few minutes if the device details are at hand:

1. Open smartphoneaisettlement.com and select the blue File A Claim button in the top right corner of the page.
2. Enter a Claim ID and PIN if one was received. Neither is required to file.
3. On the final page, provide either the iPhone's serial number or the Apple Account ID.
4. Choose how to receive the money: PayPal, Venmo, electronic bank transfer, or paper check.

The serial number is listed on the iPhone under Settings > General > About, as a string of letters and numbers near the top of the screen.

Owners of more than one eligible iPhone need to fill out the form again for every device they want to claim. The $95 figure is a maximum per phone, and the final amount each claimant receives has not been confirmed.
