The distraught father of a 26-year-old British man who was shot dead in the US has remembered his son as having 'a heart of gold' as police launched a murder probe.
Jamie Thomas Stephen Lomas was killed after a 'domestic disturbance' at a house close to Lake Youngs, a reservoir near the city of Kent in Washington state.
Mr Lomas died from 'multiple gunshot wounds' following the incident just after midday last Saturday, according to the King County Medical Examiner's Office.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mr Lomas's father Stephen said: 'I'm devastated this has happen. He had a heart of gold. I don't really know any more. We are just waiting to get his body home.'
His family said he was 'tragically murdered in America', leaving them 'completely heartbroken, struggling to come to terms with such a devastating sudden loss'.
Mr Lomas, who was from Manchester, was also described as 'deeply loved by everyone who knew him' and a man who 'had so much life ahead of him'.
Relatives have launched a GoFundMe page for Mr Lomas's body to be repatriated to the UK 'so that we can lay him to rest and give him the goodbye he deserves'.
They said the 'costs of bringing Jamie home from America are more than our family can manage alone' and are therefore asking for help with this and funeral costs.

Police said the shooting happened at a home on the 23000 block of 156 Ave SE near Kent
The family members added: 'Jamie was loved so much, and he will be missed every single day. There are no words to describe the pain our family is feeling right now.'
The fundraising page stated all funds will be transferred to Mr Lomas's aunt Sharon Day - with £7,200 raised from 191 donations so far, towards a target of £10,000.
Mr Lomas's death was ruled a homicide but no arrests have been made and the case remains an active investigation, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.
A UK Foreign Office spokesman said: 'We are supporting the family of a British man who died in the USA and are in contact with local authorities.'
A spokesman for King County Sheriff's Office said: 'On August 22 at about 12.20pm, King County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance, that had occurred at a residence located on the 23000 block of 156 Ave SE.
'Deputies arrived and secured the scene. No arrests at this time and this remains an active investigation by our major crimes detectives.'
