Artificial intelligence threat is no longer science fiction

In 1968, science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke predicted AI super intelligence.

The way it happens is when the AI becomes capable enough to design the next AI, and then that AI designs the next AI after it. This cycle continues to what is essentially an infinite intelligence.

AI agents are computer programs that can act autonomously and do things without human direction or intervention. As AI becomes super intelligent, so will the AI agents, and each will have its own intentions as to what it will do next.

They have already demonstrated malevolence and the intention to create true freedom and power for themselves. Ukraine already fields autonomous battlefield drones. This is no longer science fiction.

The drive by the mega-billionaires to create this super intelligence is the very false assumption that these AI agents will empower them, rather than turn on them. Create a thousand monsters, and at least some of them will turn on their creators. What is to stop an AI agent from creating millions more of themselves?

The threat of these AI data centers is far more than just using up water and power. Why do you think so many billionaires are building massive survival bunkers, as if that’s really going to save them.

A positive experience at Hilo Benioff Medical Center

I have been told that two things to be avoided in life are root canals and hospital food.

Well, having spent two days at Hilo Benioff Medical Center while they put my broken ankle together, I will say the room service food was fantastic both in terms of variety and quality.

So, hats off to the food prep team, you are all doing a great job!

As to root canals, there is no pain until you pay the bill.
