KTH is a hub for research and education in technology, while Tom Tits Experiment has long experience of making science and technology accessible through hands-on experiences. Now, the two are joining forces to give more children, young people and other visitors the opportunity to explore research, technology and mathematics for themselves.

“Through our collaboration with Tom Tits, we are creating new opportunities to bring research and technology beyond the university’s walls. Together, we can give more children and young people the chance to discover how engaging science, technology and mathematics can be, and perhaps inspire more of them to pursue education and careers in these fields,” says KTH President Anders Söderholm.

As part of the collaboration, KTH and Tom Tits Experiment will develop joint programmes, events and activities, as well as create opportunities for researchers, teachers, artists and others to meet and work together.

For KTH, the partnership provides another way to bring research closer to children and young people. Tom Tits, meanwhile, brings extensive experience of making science and technology accessible and engaging by encouraging visitors to try things out, investigate and experiment for themselves.

“Tom Tits has long been a place where people can discover how science works in practice. Through our collaboration with KTH, we can take the next step and give our visitors an even closer connection to current research,” says Pia Kronqvist, CEO of Tom Tits Experiment.

The first new initiative is already taking shape. Next year, as KTH celebrates its 200th anniversary and Tom Tits marks its 40th, visitors can look forward to a new interactive exhibition about sound and air.

The collaboration also supports Sweden’s national STEM initiative, which aims, among other things, to encourage more people to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
