Earlier in the month, Sony Interactive Entertainment and LEGO announced that the former’s very first console will be getting the brick treatment. As it turns out, The PlayStation set may be accompanied by another set that represents the console series’ mascot, Astro Bot. Such is the claim of leakster @BrickTapNews, who shared two images of the set’s box on X. For better or worse though, this will not be a set that you can buy separately.

Based on what’s visible in images of the box, The LEGO Astro Bot set consists of 276 pieces. The bot itself will be poseable, and you can have its eyes switched out to make it show two different expressions. There’s also a stand, with the Astro Bot logo on it. Overall, it looks to be a lot less elaborate than the 1,911-piece set for the PlayStation console itself.

Here’s the kicker, though. The leakster says this will “be free with all purchases of the PlayStation set while supplies last”. Or, as is the official LEGO designation, a “Gift with Purchase” (GWP) item. This usually means that you will not be able to buy it on its own, and the only way to get it is to buy the PlayStation set. Unless you are willing to be a scalper’s victim, of course.

Considering it’s meant to be a GWP of the LEGO PlayStation, it’s probably safe to say that it will be released on the same day as said set. In case you missed it, the LEGO Malaysia site pins this on 4 October, with a price tag of RM699. It has a functional Open button, and when you open up the lid, you’ll see two mini dioramas within, one for Gran Turismo and another for Ape Escape. These can also be removed to be displayed alongside the console.
