Welsh actor Michael Sheen, EastEnders’ Ross Kemp and comedian Miranda Hart are among the famous faces taking part in The Celebrity Traitors when the hit gameshow returns for its second series on Thursday.

Viewers will see the latest batch of celebrities, which also features presenter Maya Jama and The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey, head to Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands in the hopes of winning a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.

The contestants will try to weed out the murderous traitors among them in the eagerly anticipated second series of the BBC juggernaut, which launched last year and quickly became a major ratings success for the broadcaster.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the game will follow the 21 celebrity contestants as they try to seek out the traitors among them who kill off players in the middle of the night.

TV star Hart, best known for popular BBC sitcom Miranda, expressed concerns about the fatigue she suffers as a result of her chronic illness, which she has previously linked to her Lyme disease diagnosis.

The 53-year-old noted that the game will be “challenging” for her, adding: “The joy of mucking about on television again will hopefully outweigh some of the challenges.”

Former Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock is also among the line-up and previously said her strategy going into the game was to be “cool as a cucumber” after being inspired by singer Cat Burns, who starred in the first series of The Celebrity Traitors.

The singer-songwriter will be joined by the likes of Saltburn actor Richard E Grant, My Mad Fat Diary star Sharon Rooney and BBC journalist Amol Rajan, along with singer James Blunt and US actress Myha’la.

American supermodel and actress Jerry Hall, 70, is the oldest contestant taking part but thinks she will be OK as she is “quite an active person”, while Joanne McNally declared that she and her fellow comedians taking part will be “more than willing to throw each other under the bus”.

Other comics in the line-up include James Acaster, Joe Lycett, Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett.

Julie Hesmondhalgh is also involved in the new series, and the former Coronation Street star will be joined by broadcaster and mathematician Professor Hannah Fry, as well as musician and actor Sebastian Croft.

YouTube star King Kenny is another addition and has vowed to avenge his friend and fellow content creator Niko Omilana, who was the first celebrity to be banished in the previous series.

The first series of The Celebrity Traitors aired last autumn, with its nail-biting finale hitting a peak of 15.4 million viewers, according to the BBC.

It featured a star-studded cast including actors Celia Imrie and Nick Mohammed, author and actor Sir Stephen Fry, broadcaster Jonathan Ross and comedian Alan Carr, who went on to win as a traitor.

The spin-off series brought in an average audience of 14.9 million people during its run – the biggest TV audience of 2025.

The Celebrity Traitors begins on Thursday October 1 at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
