IndusInd Bank has introduced a new banking vertical specifically for Global Capability Centres within India. This initiative aims to address the growing banking needs of these centres as they expand. The vertical integrates corporate and employee banking into a unified relationship. It also includes foreign-currency account services to meet cross-border transaction requirements. IndusInd Bank's approach reflects the evolving landscape of the GCC ecosystem in the country.
IndusInd Bank on Monday announced that it has set up a dedicated banking vertical for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), as India’s GCC base expands and companies increasingly manage technology, engineering, analytics and other functions from the country.
The bank’s new GCC Banking vertical will bring corporate and employee banking under a single relationship. It will cover digital banking, employee banking, commercial cards, capital account and FEMA solutions, and foreign-currency accounts through its International Banking Unit at GIFT City.
Shares of IndusInd Bank were trading down 1.32% at Rs 900.50 apiece on the BSE on Monday.
India had 2,117 GCCs as of the latest count, with the ecosystem growing 32% since FY2021, according to IndusInd Bank. The expansion has also increased the range of banking requirements for these centres, particularly around employee services and cross-border transactions.
The bank said its GCC offering is aimed at allowing companies to handle these requirements through one banking relationship rather than separate corporate and employee banking arrangements.
“India’s GCC ecosystem has evolved beyond traditional shared-services operations, with centres increasingly taking on technology, engineering, analytics, finance, research and other strategic functions for global organisations. As the sector continues to grow in scale and strategic importance, its banking requirements are also becoming more nuanced. IndusInd Bank aims to support these evolving needs through a more integrated banking approach that brings together relevant capabilities and specialist guidance tailored to India-specific requirements,” Niraj Shah, Country Head – Corporate Banking, IndusInd Bank, said.
The offering also includes foreign-currency account services through the bank’s International Banking Unit at GIFT City, which will cater to the cross-border banking requirements of GCCs.
The bank said the vertical will operate on three broad principles: a single relationship covering corporate and employee banking, digital banking platforms, and access to senior bankers and India-focused advisory support.
