One of the most sought after jobs in TV corporate communications over the past year has been filled. Naomi Bulochnikov-Paul is joining Netflix as VP of Communications, Series. She starts on October 18.
The appointment comes a day after Bulochnikov-Paul announced her departure from Disney after an eight-year tenure, most recently as EVP of Communications for Disney Entertainment Television.
It marks a return to Netflix for Bulochnikov-Paul who left Disney’s Freeform for a brief, nine-month stint at the global streamer in 2018 before coming back.
In her new role, Bulochnikov-Paul will oversee communications for Netflix’s television portfolio, including scripted and unscripted series, documentary series, consumer products and experiences (including Netflix House), and emerging content, including live, sports, games, and creators, including podcasts.
She will report to Dani Dudeck, Netflix Chief Communications Officer, who led the closely watched job search. Bulochnikov-Paul joins another accomplished legacy media corporate comms executive, Warner Bros.’ Katie Martin Kelly, who was recently brought in as VP of Communications, Film, to oversee film, animation, kids and family, licensing and anime.
At Disney, Bulochnikov-Paul most recently led comms across Disney’s portfolio of TV and streaming brands — including ABC Entertainment, ABC News, Disney Kids & Family, Disney Television Studios, FX, Hulu Originals, and National Geographic Content. In her previous role as EVP, Publicity, and Head of Communications for Disney General Entertainment, she also handled executive communications for Dana Walden throughout her tenure as co-chairman of Disney Entertainment.
“Naomi brings 20 years of experience at the intersection of media and culture, and a sharp instinct for storytelling that captures the fandom and zeitgeist of the world’s most valuable entertainment brands,” Dudeck said. “I’m proud to have her lead our Series communications as we elevate our storytelling around our growing business and incredible slate – from scripted and unscripted series to live events, sports, comedy specials and so much more.”
